Seaman Gordon Ghareeb just sent these images of USS IOWA just off Los Angeles, as his ship SS LANE VICTORY circles the arriving IOWA now anchored for a hull cleaning some 3 miles from the breakwater.
nothing will ever be as majestic and imposing at the same time as a battleship!

Interesting: bottom cleaning now done without dry-docking.

Can anyone tell me is this ship still to be maintained in a semi ready state or has that law been changed?

Other than the Nimitz Class Carriers, nothing in the fleet of gray pointy things is more majestic than the Iowa Class BBs. Once the last one was complete, they broke the mold for that magnificent bow.
Proud to have been assigned to the New Jersey and Missouri for film assignments.
