THE SANDS OF ALANG: A new DVD about shipbreaking in Alang, India
Sporting her new name OASIA, the recently sold former SAGA RUBY was spotted in the Malaysian port of Penang today, presumably before proceeding to Yangon to begin her next career as an hotel ship.

Many fond memories cruising this fine ship with its excellent crew and discerning passengers as headline entertainers in the early 2000s! Fine ship!
This was the wonderful Coronia in the early 2000s. Lots of fond memories for us as headline entertainers in the early 2ooos. Fine ship!
Oasia is currently anchored just outside Phuket harbour. She has been here for two days now. I will be interested to know where her next port of call will be.
Oasia is still located at Cape Panwa Phuket.

This morning i saw she was gone and is not to be found at AIS.
Who knows where she can be , at the moment?

The ship’s Captain informed me on Friday that they expect to move to Bangkok in about two weeks.
OASIA is alongside at the Naval Base at Sattahip, in Thailand and has been there for 3-4 weeks. I’m not sure if any work is being done on her prior to moving to Myanmar. I guess she will be leaving by June 27 because we shall need the berth she is occupying to load a new oil/gas platform onto a barge ready to be moved offshore in the Gulf of Thailand.
I am not sure about the position of the Oasia ; she is not in the hrbor, but she has a posistion on sea. I also noticed she is now for sale.
Who can tell me what the plans are now with “our” Oasia?
It should be very sad if she goes for scrap. . . .
Oasia left the Thai port of Sattahip on 05 March 2017 after being bought by Indian scrap merchants, destination unknown but more than likely Alang.
Very sad news indeed but not totally unexpected still a huge loss and the last ever British built liner as well.
Well, she actually is the last liner built in England, not Britain. The last British-built liner is RMS St.-Helena of Curnow Shipping, which was built at Aberdeen’s Appledore wharf in Scotland in 1989. Still sailing and a true combination passenger-cargoliner, at one of the last real lineservices from Britain. Let’s not forget about her when naming the last liners built in Britain…
