M.V. BALMORAL, 1949-built former Southampton-based Red Funnel Ferry, now operated by Waverley Excursions.

H.M.Y. BRITANNIA, former British Royal Yacht, Leith, Scotland

CARRICK (ex CITY OF ADELAIDE, HMS CARRICK) 1864 clipper ship stored at Scottish Maritime Museum, Irvine. Under rescue attempt plan to restore and move the ship to Falmouth, Cornwall as tourist attraction. Some history of her past with images can be found at Sunderland Maritime Heritage

CUTTY SARK 1869 clipper ship preserved at Greenwich, London.

DANIEL ADAMSON, 1903 working passenger carrying tender, Liverpool.

SS DUKE OF LANCASTER, (also known as "The FUN SHIP") 1956-built former Heysham to Belfast passenger ferry, she also cruised to Norway, Denmark, Holland and Spain but more commonly to Scottish islands. In 1970 she was converted to car ferry with rear doors. Laid up 1975 with intermittant use until concreted in at Mostyn, North Wales in 1979 on the Dee Estuary near Holywell. Used as an amusement arcade and bar before being closed.

P.S. KINGSWEAR CASTLE, Chatham, Kent

P.S. LINCOLN CASTLE 1940-built paddle steamer last of the River Humber ferries prior to the construction of the Humber Road bridge. Now a restaurant ship at Grimsby.

P.S. MAID OF THE LOCH 1953-built paddle steamer. Now at Balloch on Loch Lomond.

S.S. MANXMAN 1955 final vessel in a series of 8 similar ships from The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Limited. Sunderland

S.S. NOMADIC, White Star Line tender, Belfast, Northern Ireland

T.S. QUEEN MARY 1933 former Clyde pleasure steamer now restored as a pub on the River Thames in London (commerical site)

HMS RAME HEAD, last surviving British designed, Canadian built (1945) Second World War "Fort" class merchant cargo ship, (British/Canadian version of the US Victory and Liberty ships). Laid up in Portsmouth Harbour, England.

S.S. ROBIN 1890 restored British coastal steamer turned photography gallery - West India Quay, Canary Wharf, London Thames in London

MV ROYAL IRIS, 1951-built former Mersey ferry 1,234 gt diesel-electric propulsion. The largest Mersey ferry of her era at 159 feet long with a beam of 50 feet and had a speed of 13 knots. By 1970s used for dinner cruises. Moored on south bank of the River Thames, east of the Thames Barrier. Private ownership, seeking restoration.

ALEXANDER HENRY, 1958-built icebreaker, Marine Museum of the Great Lakes at Kingston, Ontario. Now a bed & breakfast.

NED HANLAN, 1932-built tugboat stored next to the Stanley Barracks at the Canadian National Exhibition Grounds in Toronto, Ontario. City of Toronto undecided about its future.

S.S. NORGOMA 1950-built passenger ship, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada

S.S. NORISLE 1946-built passenger ship in Manitouwaning, Ontario, Canada

China

M.V. MINGHUA (SEA WORLD), 1960, former ANCERVILLE refurbished as Sea World Exhibit in Shekou, China. Closed in 1998. Reopened in 2004. A MaritimeMatters page.

Germany

CAP SAN DIEGO 1961-built Combo passenger and cargo liner for Hamburg - South America service buit in Hamburg, now a floating museum/hotel in Hamburg since 1986.

GEORG BUCHNER 1951-built passenger and cargo liner, built as CHARLESVILLE now floating museum/youth hostel in Rostock since 1977.

PASSAT 1911-built four-masted barque now floating training and museum ship in TravemundeÊsince 1959.

RICKMER RICKMERS 1896-built full rigged steel hulled sailing ship, sailed Germany - Hong Kong, now floating museum in Hamburg since 1987.

STETTIN 1933-built steam powered ice breaker, now floating museum and excursion vessel on the river Elbe since 1982.

TRADITIONSSCHIFF TYP FRIEDEN , 1957-built cargo ship preserved vessels at the German shipbuilding museum (Schiffbaumuseum) in Rostock.

Japan

S.S. HIKAWA MARU 1930 Japanese Liner, Yokahama. City of Yokahama closed both the ship and her website in 2006.

S.S. STELLA POLARIS 1927-built passenger liner, moored at Kisho Nishiura on the Izu-peninsula, Japan since 1969 as hotel and restaurant ship. (Sank under tow within hours of departure to Stockholm 2007).

Netherlands

BRUINVISCH, 1937-built salvage vessel, now under restoration at Maassluis

ELBE, 1959-built oceangoing salvage tug, the largest operational museum ship in the Netherlands. See www.sleepboothaven.nl

FURIE, 1916-built steam tug. (Played the leading role in the Dutch tv series "Hollands Glory"), in service as a museum tug at Maassluis.

HOLLAND, 1951-built salvage tug, responsible for more than 160 salvaged ships in the North part of Holland.

HUDSON, 1939-built oceangoing tug, WWII hero, now static display, with exhibition on WWII at sea at the museum port of Maassluis

ROCHDALE ONE, accommodation ship, 1977-built in France. (ex AYVAZOVSKIY ex PRIMEEXPRESS ISLAND ex CARINA ex KARINA) of Danube Shipping Co, operated Black Sea cruises between Istanbul, Turkey, and Ismailiya, USSR, and into Danube River and Mediterranean cruises. Laid up Cypress 2002, currently student housing in Amsterdam.

SS ROTTERDAM 1959-built former Holland America Line's flagship for future preservation at port of Rotterdam

New Zealand

WILLIAM C DALDY, 1935-built coal-fired steam tug active in Auckland Harbour, North Island of New Zealand.

Russia

Ice Breaker KRASIN 1916-built ice breaker, St. Petersburg, Russia.

Sweden

SS SANKT ERIK 1915-built ice breaker as ISBRYTAREN II, moored as Museum ship since 1980 outside Vasa Museum, Stockholm, Sweden.

Switzerland

WILHELM TEL 1908-built paddle steamer, now floating restaurant, Lucerne.

Tug ARTHUR FOSS 1889-built wooden hulled tug, Seattle, WA.

S.S. BADGER 1952-built ferry offering cross-lake passenger service on Lake Michigan between Ludington, Michigan and Manitowoc, Wisconsin

S.T. BALTIMORE 1906-built steam tug, the oldest operating steam-powered, coal-fired tugboat in the US, at Baltimore, Maryland

USCGC BRAMBLE 1944-built Sea going bouy tender, Port Huron, MI.

S.S. CITY OF MILWAUKEE 1931-built car ferry, Society for the preservation of S.S. City of Milwaukee, MI.

L.V. CHESAPEAKE 1930-built Lightship, preserved at Baltimore Maritime Museum, MD

EDNA G. 1896-built tugboat, last coal-fired, steam-powered tugboat in operation on the Great Lakes. In 1974 she was designated a National Historic Site. She was fully restored in 1994. Lake County Historical Society, MN

STAR OF INDIA, ex EUTERPE, 1863-built full-rigged iron ship, in 1871 she was bought by the Shaw Savill line for imigrant trade to New Zealand, and Australia, California and Chile. Bought by American owners 1901, converted to a bargue. Eventually restored now billed as "the world's oldest active ship" a major attraction at the San Diego Maritime Musuem, CA

STAR OF KODIAK, former 1945-built WWII Liberty Ship ALBERT M BOE brought to Kodiak following the 1964 tsunami for use as a cannery. Currently home of Tyson Seafood Group, Kodiak, Alaska.
