DOULOS Gets New Role

March 18: Good news for ship preservation as the 95-year old MV DOULOS was handed over to BizNaz Resources International Pte. Ltd. today.The company, based in Singapore, plans to renovate the ship and convert her into a floating theme restaurant, bookshop, museum and possibly a hotel berthed in the Jurong area of Singapore. Her new name will be DOULOS PHOS. Built in 1914 by the Newport News Shipbuilding & Drydock Co. as the SS MEDINA, the 421-foot vessel has been saved from the scrappers on at least three occasions.

He works as a photographer in Los Angeles, and his works has been exhibited in LA, San Francisco, New York, London and Iceland.Martin is the co-writer of the book “Hollywood to Honolulu; the story of the Los Angeles Steamship Company” published by the Steam Ship Historical Society of America. The Los Angeles Maritime Museum has commissioned artworks and collected his photographs.
