As part of an on-going fleetwide enhancement program for ultra luxe, Monaco-based Silversea Cruises, the 2000-built, 28,258 gt MV SILVER SHADOW has just returned from a two week drydocking in Singapore that has given the ship a fresh, new look.

All mechanical and propulsion systems were inspected and tested and the 388 passenger ship’s outdoor teak decking and caprails were reconditioned and polished.  New synthetic turfing was added to the jogging track, the pool was retiled and new pool furniture was installed along with a sound and light system for outdoor shows.  The outdoor dining venue La Terrazza has been given a protective awning along with new outdoor furniture and the Pool Grill, which also received a new awning, will become The Grill for evening dining featuring the popular new Black Rock cooking concept (an interactive dining experience that lets guests cook prime meats and seafood on heated volcanic rocks at their table) that debuted aboard the 2010-built SILVER SPIRIT.

The all-suite ship’s accommodation was also upgraded with new carpets, headboards, curtains and veranda furniture while all sofas and chairs were reupholstered. New custom-made mattresses feature an individual spring system with a soft and firm side that can be reversed to suit each guest’s preference. There is also a new memory pillow top that covers the mattress when configured as a queen-sized bed. The Owner’s, Grand, Royal and Silver suites have also been give a new state-of-the-art Bang & Olufsen home audio system.

The SILVER SHADOW’s twin sister, the 2001-built SILVER WHISPER received a similar refit last year.
