According to the Memphis Daily News, a new Memphis-based operation called Great American Steamboat Co. will be returning the 436 passenger steamboat AMERICAN QUEEN to service in April of 2012. The vessel will operate on the Mississippi, Ohio and Tennessee Rivers.

Laid up since the 2008 default of last operators, Majestic America Line, the 1995-built AMERICAN QUEEN has until now been in the custody of the U.S. Maritime Administration.

American Queen Steamboat Company has a new website that will soon offer more detailed information.*
