2013 MaritimeMatters Highlights
|
As 2013 year comes to a close, I am looking back at some of the events of the year on MaritimeMatters.
Among the many amazing “Decked!” and “SeaTreks” blogs posted this year by Peter Knego was the stand out comparison piece DISNEY DREAM Versus DISNEY FANTASY Decked!, Part One: Top Decks and Promenade.
Our top ten most visited Shipping News stories
A raft of stories, by Peter Knego, concerning the last gasp of the beloved PACIFIC PRINCESS was by far the most visited single ship topic starting with:
1: Ex PACIFIC PRINCESS Capsizing? by Peter Knego
2: BIMINI SUPERFAST To Florida by Shawn Dake
3: CARNIVAL TRIUMPH Engine Room Fire Quelled — Seventh Update by Peter Knego
4: S.S. UNITED STATES, The Turkish Years 1992 – 1996: What Might Have Been by Shawn Dake
5: Royal Caribbean Reveals Unique New Features of QUANTUM OF THE SEAS by Shawn Dake
6: QE2 In London 2013? by Martin Cox
7: OCEAN COUNTESS On Fire by Peter Knego
8: Former SONG OF NORWAY Sold For Scrap by Shawn Dake
9: Drifting Blues: The Strange Saga Of The M.V. LYUBOV ORLOVA by Shawn Dake
10: Aliaga Saga: August 2013 by Peter Knego
MaritimeMatters received a great honour in May, when The Steam Ship Historical Society of America presented several awards at its annual conference and ShiPosium which took place in California on the QUEEN MARY. Among the awards, maritime photographer Martin Cox received the “C. Bradford Mitchell” award for services to maritime history for founding and operating the website MaritimeMatters.
I would like to thank our writers Peter Knego, Shawn Dake, Kalle Id, Gordon Ghareeb, and and contributors plus our advertisers and supporters and most of all our readers, have a great New Year and we hope to see you back on MM in 2014.
All the best to you, Martin Cox
