P&O’s new AZURA was handed over March 26 at the Fincantieri shipyard, Monfalcone shipyard. Final finishing touches are being made before her departure on the March 31. At a ceremony were the President of the Senate, the Right Honourable Renato Schifani, while Carnival UK was represented by the CEO David Dingle, P&O Cruises by the Managing Director Carol Marlow and Fincantieri by the CEO Giuseppe Bono and the Chairman Corrado Antonini. The 116,000 grt AZURA, will sail for Southampton, her new home port, under Captain Keith Dowds, arriving April 7.
MARTIN COX - Founder and publisher of MaritimeMatters, inspired by maritime culture and technology growing up in the port of Southampton. He works as a photographer in Los Angeles, and his works has been exhibited in LA, San Francisco, New York, London and Iceland. Martin is the co-writer of the book “Hollywood to Honolulu; the story of the Los Angeles Steamship Company” published by the Steam Ship Historical Society of America. The Los Angeles Maritime Museum has commissioned artworks and collected his photographs.
