AZURA Southampton Bound

Last looks from her builders Fincantieri at Monfalcone, Italy as the new P&O AZURA, (sister to VENTURA) drops her pilot and heads for her new home port of Southampton, UK. AZURA will arrive at Southampton’s Ocean Cruise Terminal on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 07:00 hrs and she will leave on her maiden voyage on Monday, April 12. Former prima ballerina, Darcey Bussell will be the guest of honour at AZURA’s naming ceremony on Saturday, April 10. AZURA is registered in the UK.

Yet another hideous, boxy, squared off stern-type ship. I hate these new designs.

I did a Transatlantic crossing on the Golden Princess the earlier version of the Azura and these ship are Holly Rollers. The Golden seemed to Hang on EVERY Roll to the point of alarm.

When everyone (well almost) wants an balcony nowadays this is the boxy type of ship we end up with. She does look extremely top heavy but I’m sure will be nice as pie on the inside.
I wonder if we will see her in Australia ?
