DOULOS Gets New Role

March 18: Good news for ship preservation as the 95-year old MV DOULOS was handed over to BizNaz Resources International Pte. Ltd. today.The company, based in Singapore, plans to renovate the ship and convert her into a floating theme restaurant, bookshop, museum and possibly a hotel berthed in the Jurong area of Singapore. Her new name will be DOULOS PHOS. Built in 1914 by the Newport News Shipbuilding & Drydock Co. as the SS MEDINA, the 421-foot vessel has been saved from the scrappers on at least three occasions.
