March 3: While on a twelve night cruise from Genoa and Marseilles to the Western Mediterranean, the MV LOUIS MAJESTY, carrying 1350 passengers and 580 crew members, was struck by 26 foot tall waves, breaking windows in a public area on Deck 5 in the forward portion of the ship, resulting in the deaths of two passengers (one German and the other Italian) and the slight injury of fourteen others. The cruise ship is now returning safely to the port of Barcelona and the on board medical team is providing care to the injured.
