February 26, 2010: A steel cutting ceremony was held today for the sister ship to Oceania Cruises’ MV MARINA, for which a float out ceremony was held as the first ship enters the fitting out phase of her construction. The new ship, to be named MV RIVIERA, will be identical in nearly all aspects to the MARINA, which will measure 65,000 gt, have a length of 774 feet, a beam of 105 feet, draft of 24 feet, eleven passenger decks, double occupancy capacity of 1,258 and crew of 800. Oceania chairman and CEO, Frank Del Rio and three members of parent company Prestige Holdings’ board of directors simultaneously pushed a button to activate the cutting of the ship’s first steel plate.
