SUNSHINE Debuts
|CARNIVAL SUNSHINE emerges from a massive $155 million makeover.
CARNIVAL DESTINY spent some 50 days at the fabled shipyard of Fincantieri Cantieri Navali Italiani in Trieste, Italy (she was built at Fincantieri’s nearby Monfalcone shipyard in 1996) before emerging May 5, 2013 as CARNIVAL SUNSHINE and setting off from Venice.

Indeed, “the sun will come out tomorrow, and it did, last week.
Nice to see older ships get their due, nipped and tucked, clipped here and shined there.
Cosmetic as this appears, the ships infrastructure must be addressed. Old toilets and HVAC systems can ruin an othwerwise pretty rennovation.
We sailed Destiny from Miami to Italy back in Febuary and she was ready for a make over. Hard to believe that those pictures were taken inside the same ship. Looking forward to visiting her when she gets back state side again.
I wonder if Carnival got the inspiration for Fahrenheit 555 from 555 East here in Long Beach (Carnival offers year round sailings from here). Sounds similar – an American steakhouse with understated ambiance and great service.
It kind of throws things into perspective that CARNIVAL SUNSHINE (always DESTINY in my heart), is now considered an old(ish) cruise ship (wow)…CARNIVAL FANTASY is 20. It is hard to believe.
