The Los Angeles Quartet
|
While Southampton, UK was setting records for most ships in port on January 5, 2011 (six), the Port of Los Angeles handled a rare four ships and some 13,000 passengers on the very same day.
In port were (left to right) GOLDEN PRINCESS, SAPPHIRE PRINCESS, CRYSTAL SYMPHONY and DEUTSCHLAND filling all available space at the World Cruise Center, Port of Los Angeles, San Pedro, CA.

Lovely line up there while I was soaking in Southampton. Thanks for the photo, Kevin!
Who is running the Deutschland? Thought Peter Deilmann went bankrupt and lost river boats and Deutschland.
I think the ships left to right should be Golden Princess then Sapphire Princess instead.
Kenneth, as far as I know he still runs the ship having dispensed with the river cruises. http://www.deilmannkreuzfahrten.de/
The DEUTSCHLAND is still operated by Peter Deilmann Reederei however in August, 2010 it ceased to be a family run company. Peter Deilmann himself died in 2003. His daughters Hedda and Gisa Deilmann operated the company until selling a controlling interest to a Munich-based investment company called Aurelius. The company had struggled financially since his passing and the fire on board May 23, 2010 is estimated to have cost the company 2 million Euros to repair, which didn’t help the situation. The sale should give this fine ship a stronger capital base but will probably result in some changes in the future.
